AboutAntonio López:
Quartet Gerhard & Cor Cererols
Works that cover five centuries of musical tradition, from Victoria to Sandström
Formation: choir (12-14 singers) and positive organ
Duration: 60’00’’ without pause
A project centered around the figure of Antonio López, one of the leading exponents of Spanish pictorial realism in the second half of the 20th century. A concert born as a complement to the monographic exhibition dedicated to the artist by the Catalunya - La Pedrera Foundation during the last months of 2023, the first of its kind in the city of Barcelona.
Drawing inspiration from some of the most recurrent themes in the work of the Spanish painter, such as domestic interiors, grand urban landscapes, the human body, or portraits, Cor Cererols and Quartet Gerhard create a musical program that spans five centuries of musical tradition; from Victoria to Shostakovich, or from Buxtehude to Debussy.
This concert is a collaboration between the Catalunya - La Pedrera Foundation, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and the Quartet Gerhard.
